Overrated

I JUST watched Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange" for the first time. While the sets and camera angles are interesting - particularly in the first half - I found it overlong, boring and unnecessarily pornographic. If it hadn't been banned, it would not be considered a 'classic'.

You're right, mate, it does drag. The book is better - especially when you realise the slang has become second nature. (Same deal with the original novel of "Trainspotting" vs the inferior film adaptation.) For an often overlooked Kubrick flick that I reckon's a beauty, give "Barry Lyndon" a try.

The language (a clever mix of foreign words and nonsense, according to Wikipedia) is the best thing about it. It makes me want to read the book.

I'd like to see "Barry Lyndon" - just need some dang free time!
